The 121st Annual Arkansas Bar Association’s Annual Meeting took place June 12-14 in Hot Springs. In addition to offering more than 40 hours of continuing legal education, the event provides a great opportunity for the nearly 1,000 attorneys and judges to celebrate the achievements of their colleagues and mingle outside the courtroom.

Attorney Jamie Jones received the 2019 Golden Gavel award at the Arkansas Bar Association’s Annual Meeting on Thursday, June 13. The honor was given by ABA President Suzanne Clark for Jamie’s work as the chair of the 2019 Mid-Year Meeting. The Golden Gavel award recipients are chosen each year by the ABA president for their outstanding work and service to the association.

Laura Hensley Smith is the recipient of the 2019 Outstanding Lawyer Award presented jointing by the Arkansas Bar Foundation and the Arkansas Bar Association.

Attorney J. Shepherd Russell III was the honored guest at last night’s 10th Annual Bow Tie Bash held at the Clinton Presidential Center. The event is the flagship fundraiser for Arkansas Commitment, a nonprofit organization created to identify academically talented African-American high school students throughout central Arkansas and guide them to become leaders of society at large, as well as within the African-American community.
