Building and maintaining appropriate relationships of trust with government decision-makers is a primary consideration for us. We provide legislative and regulatory advocacy, representation at administrative hearings, assistance with business licenses and permits, and counsel with regard to initiative and referendum matters. We are called upon to draft legislation, to testify and offer commentary, to meet with elected officials and their staff members, and to assist clients in crafting strategy and action plans. We have a long history of successfully working jointly with our clients and government officials to implement constitutional changes. Our firm has written legislation and worked with various parties in numerous constitutional matters. Additionally, we have been involved in drafting each usury amendment in Arkansas since Amendment 60. We have broad experience in drafting proposed legislation and in representing both sponsors and opponents in the initiative and referendum process.

Our lawyers have broad experience in handling matters at all levels of state government, including regulatory hearing and both administrative and judicial appeals of governmental decisions that affect our clients.

We have written much of the bond legislation in Arkansas for the last 50 years, and have handled numerous lawsuits through the Arkansas Supreme Court testing the constitutionality of such legislation.

In 2019, our bond department participated in 153 bond issues, representing 85.4 percent of the total issues in Arkansas. 

We have represented clients in matters regulated by the Arkansas Public Service Commission, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality, the Arkansas Oil & Gas Commission and the Arkansas Highway & Transportation Department. The largest Class One freight railroad in the country frequently calls on us with respect to regulatory issues. We also have extensive experience representing citizens and public servants before the Arkansas Ethics Commission and have also provided counsel to those clients to comply with the applicable Ethics Law. Whenever our clients need our knowledge and experience in the government arena, we are ready to assist them.
