April 19, 2017
News Alert: If you receive a call from someone purporting to be from the Sheriff’s Office and stating that a warrant has been issued for failure to appear for jury duty, this is a likely a scam.

Jury Duty Scam has local individuals targeted; monetary losses have occurred

News Alert: If you receive a call from someone purporting to be from the Sheriff’s Office and stating that a warrant has been issued for failure to appear for jury duty, this is likely a scam. This is especially true if the person states that a monetary fine has been issued and requests that the money be paid immediately (often by staying on the phone and securing a money order).

If a court did issue a fine for failure to appear, it would not call you and have you pay over the phone. If you receive such a call, contact the Attorney General’s office at 501-682-2007 and report it. Do not give the caller any personal information or any payment information.  Please feel free to contact us if you need assistance.
