William A. Waddell Jr. of Friday, Eldredge & Clark has been awarded the Richard S. Arnold Award for Distinguished Service and Lifetime Achievement from the Association of the Bar for the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit.
The honor was presented to Bill at the annual Judicial Conference in Des Moines, Iowa on Thursday, August 16, 2018.
The award is named after Judge Arnold who served as a Chief Judge of the Eighth Circuit for more than 20 years. The distinction is given to one attorney from each of the districts within the Eighth Circuit who have achieved professional excellence, mentored others, served as leaders in the legal community and have contributed significant work toward the delivery of volunteer legal services.
Bill is a member of the Arkansas Supreme Court Committee on Unauthorized Practice of Law and previously served as the chair of the Arkansas Supreme Court Committee on Model Jury Instructions. He also serves as the chair of the Arkansas Access to Justice Foundation and is a member of the American Bar Association’s Standing Committee on Pro Bono and Public Service.
Bill provides pro bono services as a volunteer at Clarendon Mid-Delta Medical Legal Partnership. He has recruited other attorneys at his firm to volunteer, and has mentored fellow volunteers, as well as legal aid attorneys.
