The Arkansas SHRM State Council named Attorney H. Wayne Young as the recipient of the 2017 Russell Gunter Legislative Advocacy Award. The award was given at the Annual ARSHRM Conference & Expo that took place on Thursday, April 6 in Hot Springs. The award recognizes outstanding contributions of time and effort in local, state or federal legislative advocacy on behalf of the Human Resources profession.

The award recognizes outstanding contributions of time and effort in local, state or federal legislative advocacy on behalf of the Human Resources profession.
Russell served in various volunteer capacities throughout the volunteer structure, including as Director of Government Affairs and spearheading the Employment Law & Legislative Affairs Conference as Chair in 2003, and serving on its committee for many years. Russell received the organization’s Legislative Advocacy Award in 2005 and the honor was renamed after him in 2013.
Wayne is a partner with Friday, Eldredge & Clark, LLP and a member of the Labor and Employment Law Practice Group. Wayne is active in both the legal community and labor industry and often speaks to HR professionals and other legal professionals on important labor issues. He also devotes his time as a member of the Board of Directors of Women and Children First and as the President-Elect of the Little Rock Downtown Kiwanis Club. Wayne currently serves as General Counsel to the Arkansas State Council of the Society of Human Resource Management and is a member of the Arkansas and Pulaski Bar Associations.
