Friday, Eldredge & Clark was presented the 2016 Champion for a Cause award by the Arkansas Enterprises for the Developmentally Disabled organization at its 8th Annual Hawgs for a Cause event on Thursday, Oct. 20th. The award was accepted by FEC partner and AEDD Vice President David M. Graf.

She added “The Friday Firm’s dedication and philanthropy is widely known and has certainly made a difference in Central Arkansas through its support of so many worthwhile causes.”

History

AEDD was formed in 1970 to provide pre-employment training, real work opportunities, leisure time activities and daily living skill training for individuals with developmental disabilities in the Little Rock area. One of the founding board members is the late Herschel Friday, who served as managing partner at FEC for 20 years and had a child with developmental disabilities.

“Mr. Friday kept his finger on the pulse of state government, made trips to lobby in Washington D.C. and provided an outside perspective (to the organization),” Huddelston said. “He constantly reminded everyone that the mission is to take care of the adults who are developmentally disabled.”

Friday was involved in the organization until his passing in 1994.

“It is important for us to continue the work Herschel Friday started 40 years ago,” said J. Shepherd Russell III, the firm’s managing partner and AEDD member. “We continue to support the organization through monetary donations, legal support and volunteer efforts.”

Current AEDD members include FEC attorneys Michael S. Moore, Wyckliff Nisbet Jr., Jim Clark, Bruce B. Tidwell and Timothy C. Ezell.
